Banff National Park has been on my favorite National Park list since I went in May 2014. It was so fun to experience it in the winter this year! We went this past weekend to celebrate my sisters (early) Birthday and had a blast skiing, hiking, hot tubin’ & dog sledding. My favorite memory was dog sledding because I have never done it & it has been on my bucket list forever! We got lucky with weather and had a great sunny day skiing Lake Louise on Friday followed by drinks at the Fairmont, a powder ski day skiing Sunshine Village on Saturday & a hike to lower waterfall at Johnston Canyon. This was more of a slide around the canyon because the trails were frozen, (so was the waterfall!) On Sunday we went dog sledding, each got into our two person sled and got to mush around with a team of 8 dogs. Arnt they the cutest! They were so excited to hit the trails.
When leaving town for the weekend, (or anywhere for that matter) I try and pack healthy snacks to have on hand. I love having quick items to grab for breakfast before going outdoors, as well as throughout the day.
For our anniversary, I surprised my boyfriend with a weekend in the Rolling Huts, with snow shoeing and cross country skiing planned so packing snacks to give us energy was a necessity.
Since I knew we would want to get up and go, I pre mixed overnight oats (oats + chia + flax + hemp hearts) and almond milk to mix the night before.
Before leaving the huts, I made homemade granola to add with pom seeds and raspberries for our greek yogurt. We grabbed apples and kind bars for our adventures.

Fall Sundays in Seattle are typically reserved for staying inside and watching football. As much of a fan of the Seahwaks I am, sometimes getting outside and exploring local seasonal markets is the best way to indulge in the crisp fresh air. Seattle has amazing outdoor markets, everyone is familiar with the Pike Place outdoor market, but one of my favorite thing about my city is the Neighborhood farmers markets… with fresh flowers, fresh veggies and of course on a sunny Seattle day. Grab a friend, a nice cappuccino and spend some time shopping locally. Ballard Farmers Market is open on Sundays! We picked out multi-colored carrots, golden beets, kale, fresh fall flowers, and raw nut spicy crackers.. had to have!
