Smoothie bowls are without a doubt my all time favorite meal/ snack, winter or summer, rain or shine these are my go to. I think if I could pick one meal to have for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this would be it! Need a pick me up? a quick snack before or after a work out? My go to is always a smoothie bowl because they are packed with protein, vitamins, minerals, taste delicious and keep me full. I love scooping up a bite of smoothie with a little crunchy granola or buckwheat and a little bit of fresh fruit. It makes the smoothie seem like more of a solid meal to me- one that keeps me energized for hours!
Creating your own smoothies is the best way to ensure you are using fresh ingredients (Sorry emerald city smoothie, I see whats in you!) I use 5 basic ingredients in most smoothies and bowls.
1. Liquid: Coconut water, coconut milk or almond milk, water
2. Ice (or something frozen, a piece of frozen fruit works)
3. Insert fruit and veggie of choice
4. Healthy fats- hemp hearts, nuts, seeds, chia seeds, flax seed, coconut oil, coconut meat.
5. Super foods- Cinnamon, hemp hearts or vitamineral green.
5. Protein- nuts, seeds, hemp hearts, plant based protein
